A well-equipped cottage with elevated views across Fishguard Harbour. Close to Goodwick Village, near Fishguard, Pembrokeshire
Bryn Coed is a charming and characterful semi detached self catering holiday cottage which sleeps 4 people. The cottage is close to the Pembrokeshire coastal path and is only 10 minutes walk from the beach. The cottage has recently been completely updated and refitted and is equipped with modern facilities, including an excellent shower room and a character kitchen.

Traditionally built with thick stone walls, the house has hand made wooden doors with iron latches. The floors downstairs are tiled for easy cleaning, whilst upstairs there are the original varnished and sealed wooden floorboards. There is an efficient central heating system which provides lashings of hot water. The windows are traditional sliding sash with double glazing.

The kitchen has fitted cupboards and an electric ceramic top cooker with grill and fan assisted oven. There is a toaster, a microwave, a slow cooker, pots and pans and all the usual essentials, as well as a fridge with freezing compartment. The dining area is located in the bay window and sits four. To the rear a door leads into a utility room & a downstairs toilet. The utility room has a washing machine/tumble dryer. Ironing board and iron. There is a radiator, room for boots and shoes and hooks for coats. The downstairs toilet has a handbasin and storage space. Floors are tiled to cope with boots.

From the utility room the back door leads out into a small courtyard with a small table and chairs for 4 people.

The living room has a low ceiling with painted timbers. Here there is a log burner set in a traditional slate and oak fireplace (efficient central heating is also available throughout). The room has a bay window, a two seater couch and two armchairs. Wide screen digital TV and DVD player are provided. The floor is tiled and has rugs.

Stairs lead from the entrance hall to a first floor Landing area, (previously a small third bedroom)which has a small table and two armchairs, a great place to relax, take in the view of the bay and watch the boats coming and going in Fishguard harbour.

The two bedrooms both bedrooms have sea views. Bedroom 1 has a double bed, bedside cabinets, dressing table and a built in wardrobe. The original fireplace adds character but is not in use.

The second bedroom has two single beds, along with bedside cabinets, a dressing table, a built in wardrobe and window seat.

The bathroom at Bryn Coed is without a bath but the shower room is airy and spacious with room to sit down and dry your toes. There is a big walk-in shower, a smart vanity unit and endless hot water. There is also a large window with a view over the secluded back garden.

At the front the house is elevated by a meter above the road and has a paved patio area where you can sit and watch the world go by.

At the rear of the cottage there is a large sunny terraced garden with side access for bikes, kayaks and surfboards. There is also a small quarry tiled area with a patio table and seating for four people.

The back garden has 5 terraces, each with granite walls and stone steps. The garden can be tricky to negotiate and care should be taken at all times, but your efforts will be rewarded by the fabulous view from the upper terraces across the house roof to the harbour and distant hills. It takes a while to reach the top terrace so take a flask (provided) of tea and some cups.

Due to the nature of the garden its mostly strimmed grass and wild flowers.

Parking is not dedicated but there is usually space for two cars across the road and opposite the front of the house.

Bed linen and towels are provided (not beach towels)and the beds are made up ready for your arrival.

tea towels are also provided for the kitchen.

The village is a short walk away and most of what you might need will be here. There is a village shop, hairdressers and fish and chip shop. A Tesco express is just a few minutes by car.

There is a bus which services the many stop off points for walkers – so you can walk from the cottage along the coastal path as far as you want then get a ride back. This bus is designed to suit the wants of tourists and takes the scenic route.

Accessibility: – There are steps up to the house and to access the garden.Unfortunately, because of the varying levels this house is not suitable for anyone with mobility problems.

Bryn Coed is great for adults and is fine for sensible teenagers but again because of all the steps It isn’t great for very young children. I’m afraid we do not allow pets.

This cottage is great for adults, it’s fine for sensible teenagers, it’s not great for very young children,(the house is fine but not the garden) they are very welcome but you must speak with me first. Because of the varying levels the property is not suitable for anyone with mobility problems. The are steps up to the house and to the garden. Walkers will love it, as will anyone into water sports and the increasingly popular ‘Coasteering’. The surrounding country is diverse and ranges from mountain to valley and from wild and rocky to calm and sandy, every activity is catered for so some forward planning will help. Visit the tourist information to find out about the full range of activities available. Outside: There is a patio area to the front of the house, it’s elevated by a meter from the road and is fine for watching the world go by and saying hi to the neighbors. The back garden is extraordinary with stone paths, steps and wooden steps – all leading up to five terraces with stone walls. The garden is a bit tricky and care must be taken at all times – but the view across to the harbour and hills is great. There is seating for four with a table on a small quarry tiled area. Some of the terraces are level some still sloping – take the chairs to any level you like – a different one each day if you want.It takes a while to reach the top – so take a flask (provided) of tea and some cups. Due to the nature of the garden its mostly strimmed grass and wild flowers – you would always be welcome to do some weeding ! The garden has sun throughout the day …. if it is shining! Utility Room: There is a washing machine/tumble dryer. Ironing board and iron. There is a radiator, room for boots and shoes and hooks for coats. The downstairs Loo leads of from here and there is more storage space, and a handbasin. Floors are tiled to cope with boots Cleaning / Towels / Linen / : Towels are provided (not beach towels) – tea towels yes. All beds are made. Bryn Coed is professionally cleaned before you arrive. The house has lots of wood -doors are hand made with iron latches. Bedroom floors are ancient , glowing with varnish and gaps sealed like the deck of a boat. Overall the house is of fine quality and the character of an old cottage has been kept. It has a feel good factor just to be there.
